Our furniture is independently tested to ensure compliance with the most rigorous international standards.

The majority of the chairs we produce satisfy the requirements of BS 4875: part 1: 1985 to test level 5 (Strength) and BS en 1022: 1997 (Stability).

The majority of the tables we produce satisfy the requirements of BS 4875: part 5: 1985 to test level 5 (Severe contract) and the relevant stability test requirements of BS 4875 part 6: 1985.

Based on the above certification our products are independently recommended for severe contract use.

Much of the production process at Metalen is computer controlled for accuracy and repeatability.

Where possible Metalen have completely automated the production process with modern disciplines including tube bending, heat treatment, robotic welding, pressing, machining, injection moulding, flock coating and powder coating.

The company benefits from a multi-skilled workforce including time-served craftsmen specialising in the areas of manual welding, polishing and upholstery. For component manufacture Metalen uses automatic tube benders specifically designed for the furniture industry, several twin station welding cells and various CNC machinery.
